Happy birthday to Carol Manera Texeira, who got to spend her weekend enjoying the event instead of helping Mark Perriello (he was at the Veterans Day service, too!) of the Kauai Chamber of Commerce at the 50th Vietnam anniversary…Dickie Chang still had the patriotic pinwheel he carried during the Veterans Day service! Bob Klass will hopefully have some good news to share, shortly, and it’s a given that Tom Batey and Capt. Vinnie Johnson would be present along with Robert Purdy and Raymond Duarte.
Jaye Youn and Barbara Gusman of the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach (Taco Tuesdays?) were busy at the event at the Kauai Marriott Resort &Beach Club, where they will host the Christmas tree contest for nonprofit groups again this year.
If you saw Manu Fonua Sunday you would never know that he had just gotten through a five-month bout with a mean staph infection…and that was compounded when his sons got injured while doing sports. But it’s not the Festival of Lights without Elizabeth Freeman’s “right hand,” and Manu is back — better than ever!
Charlene Navarro had her Kauai High Academy of Hospitality and Tourism students (Jaykob Nakaahiki-Young has the makings of a great visitor industry leader…) in tow, and, this week, Elizabeth said we see the return of the Kapaa High School Interact Club and the Key clubs.
