UH men’s volleyball team coming

LIHUE — The County of Kauai is among the sponsors bringing the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team to Kauai this Friday and Saturday.

Hawaii team members will host a clinic for middle- and high-school students Friday at the Kauai High School gym.

“We have a number of volleyball players already committed to the clinic,” said Laurie Yoshida, the event coordinator. “But there is still some room left. Interested players in grades 6 through 12 need to pre-register by visiting the Eventbrite website.”

The clinic for grades six to eight is at 6 p.m.

Students in grades nine through 12 may be split into two clinics based on number of registrations. They meet starting at 7:30 p.m.

All are invited to view the Green and White volleyball scrimmage, Saturday at the Kauai High School gym.

There is an admission fee of $5 at the door, which opens at 4 p.m. Practice starts at 5 p.m. with the game starting at 6:30 p.m.

The H-Zone will have University of Hawaii merchandise available for sale at the game, and players will be available for an autograph session following the game.

The other sponsors are Texaco, Family and Friends of Agriculture, Alexander &Baldwin, the Rotary Club of Kauai, Bank of Hawaii, the Hawaii Lodging &Tourism Association, First Hawaiian Bank.
