FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — New York Jets starting cornerback Buster Skrine and right tackle Brandon Shell won’t play against the Atlanta Falcons because of injuries.
Skrine suffered a concussion last week at Miami and has been in the league’s protocol for head injuries. He sat out practice all week, and coach Todd Bowles ruled him out Friday.
Bowles declined to reveal who would replace Skrine, although Juston Burris and Darryl Roberts are listed as backups. Skrine also plays in the slot when the Jets shift to a nickel package and contributes on special teams.
Shell injured his neck early in the loss to the Dolphins. He’ll be replaced by Brent Qvale. Rookie tight end Jordan Leggett (knee) was also ruled out.
Defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson is questionable with shoulder and foot ailments, but has played through them this season.
