TROY, Mich. (AP) — State Rep. Tim Greimel is the fourth Democrat to enter the race for an open congressional seat in suburban Detroit.
Greimel, who led House Democrats before this legislative session, kicked off his campaign Wednesday at a park in Troy. Second-term Republican Rep. Dave Trott is retiring at the end of 2018.
Greimel says Congress “isn’t delivering” and he has a track record of “getting tangible results.” He cites the state’s expansion of Medicaid as an example and is calling for a bipartisan agreement in Washington on infrastructure improvements to better the roads and create jobs.
The other Democratic candidates are Dan Haberman, Fayrouz Saad and Haley Stevens. A number of Republicans also are running in the GOP-leaning 11th Congressional District, which includes parts of Oakland and Wayne counties.
