Tommy Rita decided he wanted to go to Reno Thursday to watch the University of Hawaii Warrior football game, said his daughter Tammy, the mom of 2017 Miss Shimmering Shamrock Kamalani Gandeza. Maybe he’ll watch the stream of the Waimea High School game, since both games have similar kickoff times.
Kamalani was busy helping at the 5th annual Mahelona Hospital Breast Cancer Walk (kudos to Josie Pablo and her community ohana on beating the rain!) and joined Jorienda “Jo” Bantayao Johnson for the Party in Pink at the Hanapepe United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.
Allan Villaflor won first place for being the first to check in at 4:30 p.m., and Sadie Doi said Jorienda and Troy and Stan Lazaro have arrangements for police escorts when they go to the Philippines on a Zumba tour.
Troy Lazaro and the Rockstars have a Party in Pink coming up Oct. 18 at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center from 5 p.m. for those who missed the earlier parties.
OK, time to go check out more Coconut Festival — it continues through 4 p.m. today at Kapaa Beach Park.
