Africa WCup qualifying: Cash for players, medicine for coach

FILE – In this Saturday Aug. 20, 2016 file photo, Nigeria’s soccer team sing the national anthem before the bronze medal match of the men’s Olympic football tournament between Honduras and Nigeria at Mineirao stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Nigeria will qualify for the 2018 World Cup if it beats Zambia on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017 in the city of Uyo, where Akwa Ibom state governor Udom Emmanuel promised the reward for the players. Emmanuel has already paid out $50,000 to the players, the Nigeria Football Federation said, after pledging $10,000 for each goal in their two matches against Cameroon last month.
