The university said Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights found no evidence of discrimination.
The complaints were filed last spring after the university announced it was dropping women’s hockey and men’s and women’s swimming.
In one complaint, the federal office determined that the university’s elimination of its women’s hockey program after the 2017 season was due to the state’s budget problems and was not discriminatory.
The office also dismissed a Title IX complaint, determining that students on the women’s hockey team were not treated differently because of gender.
Athletic director Brian Faison says the school strives “to be as fair and equitable as possible” in its sports programs.
