Fatal shooting casts long shadow over Israel-Jordan ties

In this Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 photo, Zakariya al-Jawawdeh accompanied by two of his sons, 14-year-old Lukman, right, and 10-year-old Omar, visits the gravesite of his 16-year-old son Mohammed who was killed, along with a Jordanian man, by an Israeli embassy security guard in the Jordanian capital. The fatal July shootings cast a long shadow over traditionally low-key but strategically important bilateral ties. A Jordanian official says the relationship has been “hit hard” on all levels and that Israel’s ambassador won’t be allowed back unless Israel launches a serious investigation into the shooting. Israel says it’s looking into the shooting it has portrayed as self-defense. (AP Photo/Karin Laub)
