The fatal July shootings cast a long shadow over traditionally low-key but strategically important bilateral ties. A Jordanian official says the relationship has been “hit hard” on all levels and that Israel’s ambassador won’t be allowed back unless Israel launches a serious investigation into the shooting. Israel says it’s looking into the shooting it has portrayed as self-defense. (AP Photo/Omar Akour, File)
