Kalalau brush fire extinguished

KALALAU — Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Kalalau Valley on Saturday afternoon.

No injuries were reported.

Shortly after 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Rescue 3 aboard Air 1 located a small ground fire in Kalalau Valley that had burned roughly a quarter of an acre of wildland with flames spreading.

Rescue personnel gained ground access around 5 p.m., and were able to contain the fire within an hour, while Air 1 assisted with water drops.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
