Brush fire in Poipu contained

POIPU — Firefighters responded to a brush fire that broke out in Poipu on Sunday.

No injuries were reported and no roads or structures were threatened, but plumes of smoke alarmed some residents.

Multiple units were dispatched about 12:45 p.m. to an open field on the mauka side of the dirt roads that lead to Mahaulepu.

Air 1 and two private helicopters assisted firefighters in fighting the blaze, which was declared under control at 6 p.m.
