High bacteria levels recorded at Hanalei, Anahola

HANALEI — Bacteria levels in Hanalei Bay have spiked again and the state Department of Health has issued another advisory for the bay.

Signs have been posted alerting swimmers of the high bacteria levels, and will remain posted until further testing indicates levels below the threshold.

Wednesday, DOH reported high bacteria levels at Anahola Beach Park pavilion area, and five warning signs were posted.

Testing is being conducted and results are pending from the Anahola site, according to DOH.

Both the Anahola Bay and Hanalei Bay advisories will remain in effect until bacteria numbers dip below the threshold.
