Happy birthday to Derek Kawakami, who spent the early part of his special day with his family at the Bark For Life! Kudos to Diann Hartman and her crew of volunteers who do a great job, and mahalo to Hokuala for allowing the event to take place in such a picturesque setting.
Saeger got to do the event with Maureen Nuccio-Hiraga and still had enough energy to do the Kauai Community Market (boy, Ferdinand Dosono sells out of the bulgogi early). Pat Fallbeck wasn’t at The Master Gardener tent because they’re getting the plants big for the Kauai County Farm Bureau Fair which opens Thursday (Leah Michaels said Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union is the opening night sponsor with bingo and karaoke!) at Vidinha Stadium.
Johnny Gordines wasn’t at Kauai Community College (Chancellor Helen Cox is crossing her fingers for a nice opening day of school today) because he was working with the fair set-up crew (leave it to Ralph Suniga to figure out how to get a nice table for lunch), and the Kauai Pop Warner Football League is already set up for the food booths.
