The Buddhist Study Center will present the Kauai District Summer Session Satellite Seminar on “Shin Buddhism in the Land of Shakyamuni,” Tuesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Kapaa Hongwanji Mission, and Wednesday at the Lihue Hongwanji Mission from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The Rev. Sonam Wangdi Bhutia, the head priest of Kathmandu Hongwanji in Nepal, will be the guest speaker. Bhutia was raised as a monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and at age 28, encountered Shin Buddhism and founded Nepal’s first Hongwanji temple.
