State DOE honored with award

SAN DIEGO — The Education Commission of the States presented the state Department of Education with the 2017 Frank Newman Award for State Innovation during its National Forum on Education Policy in San Diego.

The award recognizes a state for education improvements, bold and courageous policies and programs that have bipartisan, broad-based support, according to a press release.

ECS cited HIDOE’s focus on various things, particularly students’ college and career readiness.
