Fire guts Waimea building

Waimea building gutted by fire

WAIMEA — No one was injured Monday after a structure fire on Pokole Road.

Multiple units were dispatched to the scene about 2:45 p.m., and found an abandoned, single-story building fully engulfed with heavy smoke and flames.

Firefighters were able to fully extinguish the fire about 5:15 p.m.

The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
