KAPAA — A bystander with a rescue tube saved a 48-year-old male visitor, of Wisconsin, from drowning on Wednesday. Just before 2 p.m., police dispatch received a call of a male swimmer in distress fronting Pono Kai resort in Kapaa.
KAPAA — A bystander with a rescue tube saved a 48-year-old male visitor, of Wisconsin, from drowning on Wednesday.
Just before 2 p.m., police dispatch received a call of a male swimmer in distress fronting Pono Kai resort in Kapaa. Firefighters and medics arrived to find a local bystander had used a beach rescue tube from the shore and was in the water assisting the victim.
A firefighter entered the water and assisted the distressed swimmer to shore, where awaiting medics then transported him to Wilcox Medical Center in stable condition.
