LIHUE — The co-defendants accused of trying to run over three Kauai Police Department officers will soon be going to trial on drug charges.
On Tuesday, Kalei Goodwin and Kanbert Alapai appeared before Judge Kathleen Watanabe on an array of charges, including promoting a dangerous drug in the third degree, drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, possessing one-eighth ounce or more of methamphetamine and possession of 25 or more capsules containing one or more dangerous drugs.
Both men were scheduled to go to trial, but the lawyers in both cases asked for a continuance.
The hearing is set for June 14.
The trials for both defendants is scheduled for Oct. 23.
In the case where the co-defendants are accused of running over the officers, the trials for both defendants will take place Aug. 7.
