Memorial Day service today

HANAPEPE — A Memorial Day observance will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Kauai Veterans Cemetery.

Speakers include Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Capt Vinnie Johnson, commander of the Pacific Missile Range Facility, and Commander Harry Kaneakua, retired U.S. Navy SEAL. During the Vietnam conflict, Kaneakua earned two Purple Hearts.

The theme is: “Accelerate the American Spirit.”

A special wreath ceremony will be observed followed with a rifle volley and taps by a bugler.

Refreshments will be provided.
