LIHUE — The Kauai Police Department collected 196 pounds in unused or expired prescription medications and other drugs during its 13th annual Drug Take Back Day onApril 29.
“Abuse of prescription medication is a growing concern both nationally and right here at home,” stated Kauai Police Chief Darryl D. Perry. “Drug Take Back Day is one way our law enforcement agencies can work together with our community to combat this problem. By properly disposing of your unused or expired medications in a timely manner, we can help to keep these drugs out of the wrong hands.”
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Life’s Choices Kauai, and volunteers from the Kauai District Health Office and the Kauai Medical Reserves Corps helped with the event.
