Get ready for hurricane season
PRINCEVILLE — The Pacific hurricane season kicks off in June and lasts through November.
To prepare residents for the upcoming hurricane season, the Princeville chapter of the Community Emergency Response Team will host a disaster preparedness meeting that is free and open to the public.
The disaster preparedness forum is scheduled for June 1 at 6 p.m. at the Princeville Community Center.
“Preparation is key to weathering a hurricane,” said Rick Drayton, co-director of Princeville CERT.
Discussions during the disaster preparedness forum will include the difference between watch and warning, and how to prepare for and survive a hurricane.
“We have fantastic professional emergency responders, but they’ll be stretched thin during a disaster. It’s up to us as individuals to be prepared, so we can take care of ourselves, our families, and our neighbors,” Drayton said.
