Man found unresponsive in Poipu dies
POIPU — A male visitor from Massachusetts died on Monday after he was found unresponsive in waters off Waiohai Bay in Poipu.
The victim was identified as 69-year-old Kenneth Shimomura.
According to reports, Shimomura was snorkeling in shallow water at the east end of Waiohai Bay when he was found at 11:40 a.m.
Bystanders brought the man to shore and responding lifeguards administered CPR with the assistance of firefighters from the Koloa station.
Medics transported the man to Wilcox Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
