HONOLULU — The Kapaa High School softball team has earned the No. 3 seed at the Data House Hawaii High School Athletic Association Division II softball state championships.
The announcement by HHSAA Sunday morning means the Warriors, the current Kauai Interscholastic Federation champions, will enjoy a bye during the opening day Wednesday.
Kapaa will first see action Thursday when it meets the winner of the match between unseeded Konawaena of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation and Radford of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu.
The Tigers and Rams will start the tournament Wednesday. Kapaa will take the McKinley High School field on Oahu Thursday starting at noon.
Top seed in the Data House tournament goes to the Kamehameha Schools-Hawaii campus with Aiea of the Oahu Interscholastic Association getting the No. 2 seed.
The Molokai Farmers of the Maui Interscholastic League earns the No. 4 seed.
Teams participating in the Data House Division II bracket include Honokaa, Waipahu, St. Francis, Kalani, Lanai, Kohana, Konawaena, Radford, Kamehameha-Hawaii, Molokai, Kapaa and Aiea.
Championship game for the Data House Division II will play on Saturday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, starting at 4:30 p.m.
Top seeds in the Data House Division I goes to Mililani with Maryknoll getting the No. 2 seed. Lahainaluna of the MIL earns the No. 3 seed and Waiakea of the BIIF is the No. 4 seed.
