Hirono announces $1.4M for minority students in UH system
HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii will receive $1.4 million to support minority students who are studying science, technology, engineering and math at any community college in the UH system.
United States Sen. Mazie K. Hirono announced the funding for these students in an effort to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) in academics.
“This grant will help UH expand the number of Native Hawaiian and other historically underrepresented students,” Hirono said.
