Dick Lowry Wright

Dick Lowry Wright of Kalaheo died peacefully at home on Feb. 23, at the age of 77.

He was born in Oklahoma City on June 1, 1939.

Before retirement he was pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Elko, Nev. Earlier in Minneapolis, Minn., he was a chemical dependency counsellor and headed his own law firm. After retirement in 2006, he became pastor emeritus of Lihue Lutheran Church on Kauai.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ammon and Helen Wright, and by his sister Carolyn Wright.

He is survived by his wife Liedeke Bulder of Kalaheo, daughter Elaine (Sam) Larsen of Nichols Hills, Okla., sister Barbara Arrington of Lubbock, Texas, stepsons Marcos Larson of Illinois, Jim (Kelly) McIntyre of Oakland, Calif., and Steven (Kim) McIntyre of Savage, Minn., and by granddaughters Emily Stack of Austin, Tex., and Storm Larson of Peoria, Ill.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 3 p.m. at Lihue Lutheran Church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lihue Lutheran Church Mobile Munchies program or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association.

Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Richard Jay Weiss

Richard Jay Weiss, 87, of Kekaka, passed away on Jan. 31 at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.

He was born on April 27, 1930 in Michigan, and was a retired security officer at Nawiliwili Harbor.

He is survived by his sister, Marylin Grossman.

Private services were held.

Borthwick/Kauai Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.

Nellie Garibaldi Alley Igne

Nellie Garibaldi Alley Igne, 89, of 305 Myrtle Lane, Altavista, Vir., died early morning on the first day of the Lenten season, Wednesday, March 1, at her home surrounded by her family. It was a peaceful death where she willingly gave her beautiful heart and soul to our Lord Jesus Christ. She is now free from earthly pains and anxieties and esides with God in paradise.

She was the beloved wife of Elpidio Guerrero Igne. She was born June 10, 1927 in Altavista, a daughter of the late James Antonio Garibaldi and Matilda Belle Bennett. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.

She is survived by son Fred Alley and his wife Carolyn of Conover, N.C., daughter-in-law Susie Alley of Sunset Beach, N.C., stepson Michael Igne of Cullman, Ala., stepdaughters Allison DeGeorge and her husband Frank of Morgantown, W.V., and Alissa Kelly of Cullman, Ala., goddaughter Jo Kelley of Altavista, Vir., 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John Garibaldi “Gary” Alley, sister Ethel Dowdy, and brothers Cecil and Eugene Bennett.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 4, at Green Hill Cemetery, Altavista, Vir., by the Rev. Bill Bumgardner.

A memorial service will be conducted at 12 p.m. Saturday, March 4 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Altavista, Vir., by the Rev. Bill Bumgardner. The family received friends at their residence from 3 until 6 p.m. Friday.
