HONOLULU — The state has ordered Hawaii’s only dairy company to put a halt on the sale and distribution of some of its milk, but health officials say milk on Kauai is safe to drink.
Monday, the Department of Health issued a cease and desist order to Meadow Gold Dairies after laboratory results from routine milk samples exceeded standard limits for coliform bacteria.
“No milk was moved from the Honolulu plant since being ordered to cease and desist,” said Peter Oshiro, program manager of the DOH Sanitation Branch on Tuesday. “All milk currently on the market is safe to drink.”
