PUHI — Applications for this year’s Ethan Shell Memorial Scholarship for Performing Arts are now available at www.hawaiichildrenstheatre.com, for those who want to apply for up to $1,000, Hawaii Children’s Theatre announced.
Scholarships are open to Kauai students entering their first or second year of college with a performing arts major or minor. The application deadline is April 1.
These scholarships are in memory of Ethan Bradford Shell, who grew up on Kauai and participated in numerous HCT productions and programs. Ethan graduated from college in New York City and was working in an off-Broadway play and as a model when he died suddenly from an undiagnosed heart condition in 2010 at the age of 21.
In 2016 scholarships were awarded to Kimberly McDonough, violin, The College of Wooster; John Quinla, piano, Washington State University; and Tirah Brings, digital media arts, Kauai Community College.
Donations to the Ethan Shell Scholarship Fund may be made online at the HCT website or by calling 246-8985.
