Happy Camper for Friday, Feb. 24, 2017

Kudos to Nelson Batalion, John Constantino and all the Kauai Community College Student Activities Council on another great International and Club Day! Taylor Shigemoto was there for the Kauai Community Federal Credit Union, and got to check out Cruz Control while the classes were getting out.

Shaunte Sadora had her PAU Violence Kauai group out in force (not quite as dynamic as One Billion Rising, though), and Kyoko Ikeda had the 20 Okinawa Christian University students and instructors out and treating everyone with a taiko performance.

Congratulations to Akira Takabayashi on being named a National Merit Scholar finalist! Mahalo to Charles Fulks (didn’t realize KIF tennis starts Saturday, too) for the heads-up.

More kudos to Kauai High School coach Hank Ibia and his baseball boosters on a great preseason series with Kamehameha-Big Island (the girls are here this week for the Waimea softball tournament) and Farrington. His season starts Saturday, too, with a doubleheader against Kapaa at Vidinha Stadium.

And don’t forget Alton Amimoto, Leo Anguay and Kelli Pleas, who will have their golfers at the Poipu Bay Golf Course for their KIF season opener.
