Mahalo to Derek Inoshita for all the kokua with the John Burns Intercollegiate! Angel Madrid was out there shadowing the leaders on two of the three days, and it’s amazing how the golfers coped with no food concession (did they have Coke at the pro shop?) at the Wailua Golf Course.
Dr. Mike and Gail Oride took advantage of no work Wednesday to check out John Oda (never got to see him until the final day) of UNLV, and Beth Tokioka (isn’t it great having someone like Phil Tacbian to talk story about golf?) had a chance to follow Pono Tokioka on the back nine Thursday. Too bad Jimmy Tokioka had Legislature session, or he’d be there, too.
Kudos to Jason Caldeira and those Parks and Rec people (Aaron Uyeda was volunteering with the John Burns Intercollegiate) on a great Division 1 basketball playoff series … Coach Jason was doing an amazing job of being a one-man DJ as well as keeping everything flowing for that huge (where is parking?) crowd. Congratulations to Coach Pedro Saligumba and his Kaulupono crew on taking the title. Congratulations, too, to Coach Clarence Sales who had a double-header that night, too.
OK, stay safe this long weekend … it’s time to go check out the Girl Scout Cookie Rally (yep, it’s that time of the year again).
