East Kauai Lions Ed Keopuhiwa and Donald Nagamine had the last shift of the used eyeglass collection Saturday near the Taco Del Mar (the good thing about Taco Del Mar being closed for renovation is the Lions could use the corner as a windbreak).
A couple of doors down, Mark Bonilla (he just started working at the Vitamin World) was checking on the umbrellas at Jamba Juice (that’s Job No. 2) while helping customers with their special sale items. Mark wasn’t wearing his Elvis gear so nothing to say that he also is one of the instructors at the Kauai Gymnastics Academy where the Las Vegas team is working hard to prepare for their competition in February.
Kudos to Island School on hosting the final KIF swim meet in all the wind and rain of the YMCA pool. Jack Machorek didn’t let the rain stop him from his KIF record pace in the boys 200 yard Individual Medley, and Dean Okayama (his daughter Kelli has a state swim, too) got Linda to hold the umbrella for his shots.
The KIF swim championships is coming up Saturday along with the KIF paddling championships. It’s going to be a busy weekend!
