Regarding the article in Sunday’s paper, about a dangerous place for kupana pedestrians, lives could be saved by educating pedestrians to walk facing oncoming traffic. As I drive around the island I see many people walking with the traffic and not toward it.
When you walk toward the traffic you can monitor the cars coming toward you in case the driver is not paying attention. It would be very easy to educate pedestrians to this hazard by employing traffic signs around the island stating; ” Pedestrians walk on side of oncoming traffic.”
