HANALEI — Kaiser Permanente staff members and families volunteered at Waipa ahupuaa in North Kauai Monday as part of the organization’s 12th annual Day of Service.
Joining more than the 1,000 Kaiser Permanente employees on the neighbor islands and Oahu, Kauai’s Kaiser employees honored the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through their service.
“Since joining the Kauai community nearly one year ago with the opening of our Lihue Clinic, we’ve been privileged to care for the people of Kauai, but this gives us an opportunity to give back to our community in other ways,” said Kaupa Medeiros, MD.
Employees from Kaiser Permanente’s Lihue Clinic worked with the Waipa Foundation to complete several restoration projects, such as clearing weeds and roots from an auwai and maintaining the Halulu fishpond.
