Happy Camper for Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017

Happy birthday to Waimea High School junior varsity goalkeeper Keith Kanna who celebrated his 15th birthday during the game against Kauai High School JV Thursday at Hanapepe Stadium!

Zachary Stem’s grandma, Janice Bond (yes, the Women’s March is the day after the presidential inauguration!) was there and protected against all the cold bugs flying around, and mahalo to Coach Jon Kobayashi and the Menehune athletic department for all the hospitality.

Happy New Year to June Cappiello and Annette Wong of the Sheraton Kauai Resort who had a whole clan of Sheraton associates come out to present the Kauai Animal Welfare Society with the proceeds from Table 53 at RumFire. This month’s proceeds go to benefit Shale Shore and the Kauai Sailing Association (they got to tour the Nippon Maru, too!).

Art Umezu said the mayor of Moriyama City was going to be biking with Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. on Ke Ala Hele Makala‘e because bicycling is such a big thing in Moriyama (Kevin Matsunaga said the Moriyama students were at Kauai High School Thursday, too).

Kevin was busy getting photos of his son Micah playing defense for the Kauai High School JV boys (congratulations Coach Martin Steinhaus on the 1-0 win).
