LIHUE — The Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, has scheduled training courses in Hanapepe, Kapaa and Princeville.
The CERT sessions are free, six-week disaster and emergency preparedness courses tailored to citizens and taught by firefighters.
Participants will learn about different types of disasters and how to prepare and respond.
Topics will include fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and first aid.
Classes will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Hanapepe classes will be every Wednesday, beginning today through Feb. 8 at the Hanapepe Library.
Kapaa classes will be held on Thursdays, Feb. 9 through March 16, at the St. Catherine School cafeteria.
Princeville classes will be held on Monday nights at the Sunset Drive Clubhouse on Napookala Drive, from Jan. 10 to Feb. 21. There will be no class on Feb. 14.
Additional classes will be held islandwide. Dates and locations of classes will be announced as they are confirmed.
