Stacie Chiba-Miguel (more than two shopping carts of presents to wrap?!) said the Kumu’s Cupboard gift-wrapping station was the best, “really good,” because teachers were doing the wrapping. Kumu’s Cupboard, a nonprofit, gets ready to open its doors on Jan. 14 for free school supplies to teachers and other educational staff — watch for it!
Luis Soltren might have been hosting his final Christmas party for keiki (Rosie Carrillo had her hands full between the Shop With A Cop and Soltren’s party) Saturday after 30 years. He ran into his sensei Kenn Firestone who had a table set up for his martial arts school that will be opening on Jan. 9 at a space provided by the Lihue Missionary Church.
Kudos to Haley Okamoto (she was helping the Ho‘ohui group with the Kauai Economic Opportunity food delivery) who is among the throng of college students (Cassidy Yatsko was helping dad Jack at the 15th annual Employers Awards banquet!) home for the winter break.
Kudos to Dave Jordan and the Friendship House ohana for taking the time to acknowledge the efforts of employers!
OK, time to go check with Kirk Correa and the Garden Island Baseball Clinic …
