Motorcyclist dies in Kalihiwai traffic crash
KALIHIWAI – A Kapaa man died in a traffic crash while riding a motorcycle in Kalihiwai Friday afternoon. The 63-year-old was attempting to make a left turn onto Kuhio Highway from South Kalihiwai Road about 2:40 p.m. when he was struck by a northbound pickup truck. He died at the scene. The two occupants of the pickup truck were not injured. Kuhio Highway was closed following the crash to allow police to conduct an investigation. The highway was reopened about 6 p.m. The Kapaa man is Kauai’s eighth traffic fatality of the year. The victim was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
