Theresa ‘Daisy’ Silva Ruiz

Theresa “Daisy” Silva Ruiz of Hayward, California, passed away Nov. 18, 2016, at the age of 92.

Born in Makaweli on Feb. 4, 1942, she was a radio announcer/singer with the Silva Serenaders on KTOH in the early 1950s. After moving to California she worked as a cook until her retirement.

Theresa is survived by her son Stephen (Yvonne) Ruiz; daughters Sharyn (Earl) Meyer of Florida, Judy (Nick) Verhoek and Melinda McGregor of California; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Church in Koloa on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m.

Preston Shane McCain

Preston Shane McCain of Kapaa passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Nov. 15, 2016, at the age of 44. He was born in Arizona on May 17, 1972, and was a self-employed painter with McCain paints.

Preston is survived by his wife, Laura McCain of Kapaa; daughter, Leilani Sheezef; parents, Edward and Miriam McCain of Ohio; brothers, Brad McCain of Alaska, Tim McCain of Alaska and his children, Tyler Ray, Trevor, Brett, Spencer; sisters, Brenda Dorman of Alaska and her children, Chrystal, Elaina, Emily, Brianna and Heidi, Aneva Steinmetz of Alaska and her children, Alisha and Bradon, Michele (Mike) Orlowski of Alaska and her son, Billy; their puppy Cruzer; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Breath of Life Calvary Chapel in Lihue with services beginning at noon.

Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the McCain family with arrangements.
