Happy Camper for Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016

Lo‘ea Kamibayashi said when Jeff Sacchini opened The Lanai, he created more than a restaurant — he created atmosphere that drew people up to The Palms Gallery side of The Shops at Kukuiula. Patrice Pendarvis was so excited about the opening, she already went to check it out, and Jeff said Ted Shanks of Kipu Ranch Adventures was there on the opening.

Happy birthday to Nadine Nakamura who celebrated her special day at the inauguration of the county council and prosecuting attorney Thursday. She was joined by Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui and Hawaii Lodging and Tourism Association president Mufi Hannemann as well as several other state representatives.

The rains couldn’t stop the Sons of Kauai who decorated Paulo for the Lights on Rice parade on Thursday night (Leong Lim said he was going to do this at The Salvation Army Thanksgiving luncheon). Kudos to Rudy and Loke Notebo on spearheading this effort all these years.

And kudos to Beau Acoba on returning to the hometown of his alma mater for the lighting of the Waimea streetfront (check out the Waimea Fire Station!) and the new Spice of Life (starfish ornaments made from real starfish) that opens up the blackness west of Big Save (Carlos Olivas knows how to ring that Salvation Army kettle bell).
