Brianna could use your help to have a wonderful Christmas this year.
The 1-year-old is facing bigger challengers than most of us. She has a diagnosis of autism that makes life difficult at times. Her parents work with her on a daily basis to help her. She has been enrolled in Easter Seals early intervention for some time.
Both her mom and dad work full time so her grandparents take care of Brianna during the day, as well as her little brother.
So what can we do for her?
Her family is not asking for much. They could really use a nice meal and some educational toys for Brianna. That would make it a really nice Christmas. It’s that simple. A meal and a few toys. Let’s do that for her.
Brianna is among the people The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund hopes to help during the holidays. Donations to the Christmas Fund will be distributed by Zonta Club members, who purchase gift certificates at local stores to make wishes come true.
Each donated dollar is accounted for and carefully recorded. There are no administrators collecting salaries. Volunteers run the show.
If you hold a fundraiser for the Christmas Fund or know of one, let us know and we’ll spread the word. Anyone making a donation of $50 or more may have their picture presenting the check to Zonta published in TGI.
The Garden Island/Zonta Christmas Fund was established in the early 1980s and has helped thousands of families.
Only monetary donations are accepted. Checks payable to Zonta Club of Kauai Foundation can be mailed to P.O. Box 3032, Lihue, HI 96766. For more information, call Dimples Kano at 822-4517.
Others needing assistance this Christmas season:
w Gregory is a 2-year-old with a genetic syndrome that makes it really hard for him to eat. He has two older brothers that have the same syndrome. The family is struggling financially due to lots of trips to Oahu to see the doctor. They would really benefit from being able to buy George some toys and books that he loves.
w Jonah’s parents recently separated and he is living with his mother. She just had another baby. Jonah has been receiving early intervention service with Easter Seals for some time now. Mom is struggling to get by. Jonah would really benefit from some toys and books and a new pair of shoes this holiday season.
