Hanalei Bridge, Kalalau Trail closed due to Flash flood warning

Officials have closed Hanalei Bridge and the Kalalau Trail due to weather conditions Friday.

The island of Kauai is under a flash flood warning, according to the National Weather Service Friday.

The warning is in effect through noon, according to the report.

At 9:39 a.m. Friday, rainfall over Kauai has diminished but water levels in Hanalei River will remain high for several hours as water drains off slopes.

The Kalalau Trail, Napali Coast State Wilderness Park, Kauai, is closed due to flash flooding of the Hanakapiai Stream, according to Division of State Parks.

A flash flood warning means flooding is imminent or occurring in streams, roads and low-lying areas. The NWS advises to high to higher ground.
