KAPAA – A Kapaa man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he reportedly threatened juveniles and fired shots on his property.
No one was injured during the incident.
Randy Yamagata, 48, was arrested for first-degree Reckless Endangering and first-degree Terroristic Threatening, according to reports.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., police responded to a property along Olohena Road, across from the Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex, when a group of male juveniles reported that a man had threatened them with a firearm.
The five children, ranging in age from 11 to 14 years old, were on Olohena Road when the man appeared from his property. The man, later identified as Yamagata, was arguing with the children when he discharged the firearm at a tree, reportedly to scare the children.
Yamagata was taken into custody and booked at the Lihue police station. He was later released after posting $10,000 bail.
