Step back in time

LIHUE — A free showing of historic, remastered films from a private family collection is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday on the lawn of Grove Farm museum.

These films are remastered from 16mm reels to digital HD, filmed by Henry Digby Sloggett from the 1920s and forward. An educational grant from Elsie H. Wilcox Foundation is enabling the free showing.

“Rare film footage shows the day and the life of the plantation worker, historic plantation operation, as well as old Kauai lifestyle,” said Moises Madayag, curator for Waioli Mission House and Grove Farm museums.

The evening is a chance to lounge on the lawn and reminisce about days past. Food and drinks available for purchase.
