The Kapaa High School football team was named the No. 1 seed for the First Hawaiian Bank Hawaii High School Athletic Association 2016 Football State Championships, Division II, in an announcement released Friday by the HHSAA.
With playoffs pending in other leagues, the top seed gives Kapaa, the Kauai Interscholastic Federation champions, time to gear up when it takes the field in the semifinals Nov. 12 starting at 2:30 p.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
Kapaa will face the winner of the Damien and Waialua matchup which will contest Friday at Campbell High School on Oahu.
Konawaena High School of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation earns the No. 2 seed for Division 2.
They will face the winner of the matchup between Lahainaluna High School and Waipahu High School which will take the field Friday at the War Memorial stadium on Maui.
Winners of the Nov. 12 contests will advance to the Division II state championship game which will play Nov. 18 starting at 4:30 p.m. at the Aloha Stadium on Oahu.
