Kapaa girls unseeded at states

Kapaa High School’s varsity girls volleyball team is unseeded in the New City Nissan Girls Volleyball State Championships — Division II tournament, which begins Wednesday.

Kapaa (10-2 KIF) will play Hawaii Preparatory Academy of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kaimuki High School in Honolulu.

Other first round matches in the Division II tournament are:

– Molokai (Maui Interscholastic League) vs. Kohala (BIIF), 5 p.m. Wednesday at Kaimuki High School.

– Roosevelt (Oahu Interscholastic Association) vs. Damien (Interscholastic League of Honolulu), 7 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Francis School.

– Le Jardin (ILH) vs. Honokaa (BIIF), 5 p.m. Wednesday at Saint Francis School.

The seeded teams who earned a first round bye are: No. 1 Hawaii Baptist (ILH), No. 2 Konawaena (BIIF), No. 3 Hana (MIL) and No. 4 Waianae (OIA).

The New City Nissan Girls Volleyball State Championships — Division I tournament begins Monday. First round matches are:

– Kamehameha Schools-Maui (MIL) vs. Farrington (OIA), 3:45 p.m. Monday at KS-Maui.

– Iolani (ILH) vs. Moanalua (OIA), 6 p.m. Monday at Iolani

– Waiakea (BIIF) vs. Kapolei (OIA), 3:45 p.m. Monday at Waiakea

– Mililani (OIA) vs. Kalaheo (OIA), 6 p.m. Monday at Mililani

Seeded teams in Division I are: No. 1 Kahuku (OIA), No. 2 Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama (ILH), No. 3 King Kekaulike (MIL) and No. 4 Hilo (BIIF).
