Wailua Bridge reopen

WAILUA — Wailua Bridge reopened around 7:30 p.m. after crews from the utility companies replaced a downed electrical wire. 

The downed wire, which was reported at 6:40 p.m., caused Kauai Police Department to close the bridge. Westbound traffic was diverted to one lane of the cane haul bridge. Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane on the cane haul bridge, while repair work to the downed pole was done.

Traffic in and out of the affected area was inconvenienced.

The cause for the downed line remains unknown.
