Kudos to David Sosner (it took Laurie Nakama’s birthday for he and Fran Roach of Hokuala to discover they worked in Egypt at the same time) and the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort ohana on the opening of Ko’s Shave Ice
Kudos to David Sosner (it took Laurie Nakama’s birthday for he and Fran Roach of Hokuala to discover they worked in Egypt at the same time) and the Aqua Kauai Beach Resort ohana on the opening of Ko’s Shave Ice (it means “sugar”) located at the pool deck! Tristol Manuel and her crew did a masterful job of cranking out shave ice (Santa, aka Phil Worwa, had to do the virgin versions) for the many guests (nice to see Lorna Santos now taking in KIF football games because her grandson plays for Waimea High School), and mahalo to Jeanne Toulon of Koloa Rum Company (the secret ingredient in the “adult” versions) for arranging for the Kauai Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours.
Executive Chef Rodman Machado outdid himself with those lamb burger sliders, and Turquoise “Toto” Santos was kept busy all night with the Sticky Rice and Firecracker Shrimp. Sevirino Barroga started out with the sliders and sushi until being caught up with the roast pork and pumpkin, and Nelson Batalion said Kauai Community College is hosting another Club Day on Sept. 28 starting at 11 a.m.
Dr. Kani Blackwell said the Kauai Powwow Educational Outreach is Friday at the Kapaa Beach Park (that means Kauai Powwow is coming, Saturday and Sunday).
