Ingrid G. De Boer Harbeck
Ingrid G. de Boer Harbeck of Kalaheo passed away on Aug. 8, 2016, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born on Sept. 22, 1933, in Berlin, Germany, she was an Anger Management counselor for the YWCA and subsequently formed her own organization, which she called Ho’oponopono, till her retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Albert de Boer; son, Dennis Bolen of Rohnert, California; daughters, Linda Bolen of Tucson, Arizona and Lany Legrady of Portland, Oregon; step-daughters, Alma Koetje of Kekaha, Susan de Boer of Honolulu, Cathy Lord of Kalaheo, and Patricia Sawyer of Ada, Michigan; twelve grandsons, two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.
Memorial services will take place at a later date.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Michael Joseph Texeira Sr.
Michael Joseph Texeira, passed away on May 2, 2016, in Belleville Illinois at the age of 81.
Born on April 13, 1935, in Kauai, HI he was self-employed.
He is preceded in death by his father William Texeira Sr. mother, Angeline Chandler Texeira & oldest daughter Estella Alayvilla.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie Texeira of Belleville, Illinois, his daughters, Jennifer “Tida” (Calvin) Texeira of Wailua Houselots, Marella “Leila” Texeira of Kapaa and Carol (Ronald) Alalem of Kapahi, sons, Michael “Big Boy” (Mel) Texeira, Thomas “Tommy” (Maile) Texeira of Puhi & Roberto “Snorkels” (Laurie) Texeira of Kapaa, Alfredo Texeira of Wailua Homesteads, three-step children of Belleville, Illinois, daughter, Pam (Bob) Forbeck), Ginger (Jeff) Terveer and son, Roger (Rachelle) Schubert, siblings, bothers, Anthony ( Cecelia “Tobi”) Texeira, William Jr. (Miriam “Lahapa”) Texeira, David Texeira, Aloysius “Ali” (Leslee) Texeira, sisters, Angelina “Honey” (Lynn) Turner, Rosalina “sweetie” (Patrick) Lopez & Chanel (Mario) Catbagan, numerous nieces & nephews, 37 grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren & 52 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2016, at the Assembly of God in Kapaa at 4158 Koa St. Kapaa, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
A scattering of ashes will be held on Sept. 16, 2016, in at Wailua Beach Park. Time to be determined.
Casual & aloha attire suggested. Flowers welcome. No alcohol.
Eric Loy Dang
Eric Loy Dang of Lihue passed away peacefully at the age of 68 at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland on July 20, 2016. Born on Oahu on July 5, 1948, he was a retired retail manager for F.W Woolworth stores.
He is preceded in death by his father Raymond T. Dang.
Eric is survived by his wife Eldene Dang, mother Chin Hee Dang, brothers Raymond S.L (Audrey) Dang, Philip ( Bevra) Dang, Steve (Deborah) Dang and sister Liane (Ken) Sloan, numerous nieces & nephews.
Friends may meet with the family on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at the Lihue United Church in Pua Loke. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with service at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested. Family requests no flowers.
Marian Pavao Silva
Marian Pavao Silva, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, born on June 5, 1929, in Ele’ele, passed away at the age of 87 on Aug. 31, 2016, at Kauai Care Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Ganasa Silva Sr.; grand-daughter, Ariel N. Clagett; parents, Joseph F. and Mary Pavao; brothers, Joseph “Sonny” Pavao and Bernard Pavao; and sisters, Barbara P. Koerte and Susan P. Kali.
Marian is survived by her four children, Yvonne (Wilbert) Pereira of Lihue, Richard “Dickie” (Franny) Silva Jr. of Kalaheo, Mary Ellen Silva of Kalaheo, and David (Jamie) Silva of Kapa’a; nine grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:15 a.m. with Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers are welcomed.

Diana Rylands
Diana Rylands of Kilauea passed away at home on Aug. 14, 2016, at the age of 70. She was born in England on April 23, 1946, and was the proprietor of Hanalei Wishing Well Shave Ice.
Diana is survived by her husband, Allen Akira Harada; brothers, Christopher (Melinda) Rylands and John (Terisa) Rylands; In-laws, Wilbert “Afuk” and Lily Tai Hook, Alfred “Yoshi” and Elizabeth “Nani” Harada, Ray “Bull” Harada; Numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at 5-2950 Kuhio Hwy. at the Tai Hook’s Estate (Kalihiwai) from 10 a.m. to noon.

Pablo Tongco Laborte, 80 years old of Lawai, Kauai passed away on Aug. 25, 2016, at Garden Island Healthcare Center.
Born on December 19, 1935, in Aiea, Oahu he worked for Grove Farm Sugar Plantation and was a retired Tractor Driver at McBryde Sugar Co.
Preceded in death by his parents Nicolas & Cornelia Laborte, son Baltazar Laborte, brother Fransisco Laborte, sister Loreta Buligan & uncle Gregorio Tongco.

Sueko Takiguchi of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Sept. 7, 2016, at the age of 90. She was born in Puhi, Kauai on Jan. 3, 1926, and was a dedicated homemaker and was known for her delicious pupu’s at Hideaway Bar.
Preceded in death by her husband, Harris Tsutomu Takiguchi.
Sueko is survived by two sons, Henry (Dale) Takiguchi, John (Donna) Takiguchi; daughter, Kathy (Ross Shimonishi) Takiguchi; 3 grandsons, David and Aaron Takiguchi, Ryan (Clente) Takiguchi; 3 great-grandchildren, Camden, Aiden and Noah; step-grandchildren, Jonathan Barretto, Jaryn (Derek) Gandia; step great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jaden Gandia, Micah Barretto, Jordan and Hope Simao; sister-in-laws, Lillian Takiguchi, Asae Fujimura, Sachiko Fujimura; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Lihue Christian Church with visitation from 10 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.

Louis Edmund Abrams
Louis Edmund Abrams of Lawai, Hawai‘i passed away at the age of 64 on Sept. 8, 2016, in Lawai.
Born in Honolulu, Hawai’i on Aug. 14, 1952, he was Broker in Charge at Charlee & Associates, co-owner of Garden Island Rentals, former President of the Koloa Community Association, a member of the Planning Commission for Kauai county, and an avid sailor.
Louie is survived by his wife, Charlee Abrams; son, Louis Charles (Jennifer) Abrams of Lawai; daughter, Cori (Hubert) Biete of Wahiawa; and one grand-daughter, Michelle Biete.
Fumie H. Takemoto
Fumie H. Takemoto of Hanapepe, Hawai‘i, passed away at home on July 30, 2016, at the age of 95. Born in Moloa‘a, Hawai‘i on Oct. 30, 1920, she was a cafeteria worker at Kalaheo School.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Masashi Takemoto; and parents, Taemon Hashizume and Kinu Ozaki Hashizume.
Fumie is survived by her son, Dennis K. Takemoto of Hanapepe; three grandchildren, Ken, Mark and Tracy; five great-grandchildren, Kiernan, Tyde, Hunter, Tevyn, and Archer; brothers, Taichi Hashizume of Wailuea and Shoichi Hashizume of Monterey Park, California; and sisters, Loraine Michie Fujiwara of Salt Lake, O’ahu and Ellen Kimie Matsuyama of Pearl City.
Private services were held.

Joseph Junichi Daos
Joseph Junichi Daos born May 26, 1942, passed away at his home on July 28, 2016, at the age of 74. He worked for Aloha Airlines, Kauai Community Federal Credit Union and Zippy’s.
He is survived by his wife Jennifer; two sons, Joseph Jr. and Chris Daos, two grandchildren, Matthew & Joli Daos, his brothers David (Norma) Alfred & Lawrence (Antionette) Daos of Honolulu, & numerous nieces & nephews.
Family services were held in Honolulu on Aug. 4th, 2016, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary.
William ‘Bill’ Alan Reid
William “Bill” Alan Reid of Lihue passed away at Garden Isle Health Care on Sept. 7, 2016, at the age of 86. He was born in North Carolina on Sept. 26, 1929, and was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was an Anesthesiologist at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Tustin, California and Maui Memorial Hospital.
Bill is survived by his wife, Ann Reid; sons, Michael (Stephanie Kaluahine) Reid and Stephen Reid; granddaughters, Lorin and Taylor Reid; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.

Bernard Damian Silva
Bernie passed away peacefully and painlessly on Aug. 29, 2016. He attended junior college on Kauai, Drake University, and Northwest Bible College. He spent his life as a minister in Washington State and at Kapaa Assembly of God 1989-1991. Bernie is survived by siblings Toni, Sandi, Gregory, and his fraternal twin brother Gerard; Carol; his three loving children; and his three grandchildren Damien, Savannah, and Cora. Carol Nance of Kalaheo, Kauai, Hawaii passed away on Sept. 10, 2016, at the age of 72.
Born on Sept. 13, 1943, in Michigan City, Indiana she worked in the Science & Finance Department at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Kalaheo.
Preceded in death by parents, Terry Bryan & Sarah Naomi Parks, husband, Thomas Nance.
Survived by daughter, Tami (Richard) Singer, grandchildren, Andrew & Megan Singer, sisters, Nita (Bob) Lefever & Ester House, five nieces, Norma (Bill) McFarland, Jan Lefever, Debbie Allgood, Kathy Allgood, Donna (Ralph) Sillesky, 2 nephews, Bruce Allgood & Allen (Teri) Lefever.

Latina Quigao Batalion of Lihue passed away in Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 9, 2016, at the age of 83. She was born in Batac, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on May 6, 1933, and retired as a cook from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Batalion; granddaughter, Leonora Batalion, brothers, Elpidio Battulayan and William Battulayan.
Latina is survived by six children, Lolita (Philip) Atiga, Ludivina (Antonio-deceased) Capitle, Cecilia (Jessie) Dela Cruz, Ofelia (Rudy) Vigilia, Bailon (Amalia) Batalion, Marina (Danny) Ola; sister, Emilia Guino and Rosa Gonzales; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall with viewing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
