Pop Warner football kicks off

LIHUE — Abigail Dominguez said she just moved here from Texas, and is now a part of the Hanapepe Colts cheer team, Saturday during the 54th Annual Pop Warner Jamboree at Vidinha Stadium.

Reyna Arellanes of the Lihue Red Raiders cheer squad said the JAMZ invitation to participate in the Citrus Bowl is close to Christmas, and her birthday.

The accomplishments and achievements of the Kauai Pop Warner Football League and its five associations were highlighted during the jamboree that marked a day of get-together by the KPWFL associations ahead of its regular tackle football season.

Lenny Rapozo, director of the county’s Department of Parks and Recreation, received accolades for his longtime contribution of Kauai Pop Warner football.

KPWFL president Teddy Arroyo said regular games start Saturday from 8 a.m. at Vidinha Stadium.
