Caring counts for 4th graders

Caring is the theme for the 2017 Character Counts essay and artwork contest.

The Kauai Association of Family and Community Education members join other state FCE units and the nation in sponsoring the annual 2017 Character Counts essay and artwork contest for fourth-grade students.

The contest is open to any student in the fourth-grade attending public or private schools, or being homeschooled. Students participating are to write an essay and create a hand-drawn artwork relating to the theme of caring.

The contest runs from Sept. 1 through March 1.

The objective of the contest is to promote ethics among children using the six pillars of character.
