Public to weigh in on booze bill

LIHUE — Kauai residents are invited to comment on a bill that would allow alcohol sales on the Wailua Golf Course.

The Kauai County Council will host a public hearing on Bill No. 2635 at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, which made it legal for alcohol to be consumed on the course.

The course has a restaurant where alcohol can be purchased, but it must be consumed inside the facility.

The measure allows for a “roving concession” stand to sell alcohol on the course.

It was passed 6 to 1 on first reading Aug. 3. Councilman Gary Hooser was the only dissenting vote.
